He has given more than 100 presentations in the last 35 years for ASPPA conferences (including ASPPA's Annual Conference in Washington D.C. and the Los Angeles Benefits Conference) and for those of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) as well as other benefits organizations.

His experience in handling Internal Revenue Service audits and Department of Labor reviews and investigations, and his fiduciary work with the Department of Labor, have given him credibility with those agencies.

Mr. Saakvitne's pension practice has included documentation and design work with multiple employer plans; work with ESOPs and other employer stock plans; advice to fiduciaries; tax planning for distributions; and in the fields of nonqualified deferred compensation, and VEBAs used to fund health plans.
